Vitamin B12 is not secreted in the urine but stored in the liver. Its essential for proper nerve function, blood cell formation, and memory. Its deficiecy can cause, among others,a condition characterized by the production of red blood cells that have limited oxygen-carrying capacities (megaloblastic anemia)that can cause fatigue, and lack of energy. Vegetarians are at risk for VitB12 deficiency because B12 vitamins are predominantly found in animal foods such as eggs, dairy products, seafoods, and meats.Blood level of vitamin B12 decline with age.It is not surprising that memory loss and other nerve disease are increasingly diagnosed in the elderly. Patients suffering from Alzheimer disease have significant low level of VitB12. Correcting Vit B12 deficiencies in the elderly can result in a dramatic improvement in mood!Injectable forms of B12 is available and please contact us for more information.
