A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine (March 1998, 338;777-83) showed that more than 50% of participating patients aged 18-95 years were Vitamin D deficient (Blood sample analysis. Furthermore it revealed that Multivitamins which contained the FDA recommended "daily value of 400 IU" were not protective. This high percentages concerns me because Vitamin D deficiency can cause Osteoporosis ("brittle bones"). It is suggested that all adults should take at least 800-1000 IU (Interational Units) of Vitamin D. Contact us for more information about available blood testing and bone density measurements.
